We’re happy to welcome back Making Moves + Movies to FOMO for No Dumb Questions: DP Edition.

We’re hooking up with amazing DPs from the Making Moves + Movies and Illuminatrix communities to help demystify the world of cinematography.

This evening is designed for people from all departments and experience levels, so whether you’re a director, producer, camera assistant, art dept or beyond, this is your chance to get curious and ask DPs the questions you’ve always wanted answered.

The evening will be compèred by Celia Hodgson – co-founder of Making Moves + Movies and founder of Tiny Studios

We’ll hear from the following 4 DPs:

1. Barbara van Schaik she/her – DP and on the leadership team of female cinematographers collective: Illuminatrix Rising
2. Monika Davies she/her – Multidisciplinary DP Specialising in Commercials and documentary + Bafta Connect Member
3. Alana Mejía González she/her – award winning DP specialising in narrative, commercial and documentary work
4. Olivia Morrison she/they – DP experienced in shooting promos, music videos and narrative work. Previously started out as a Camera Trainee in Long-form and eventually worked their way up to DP

Throughout the evening, our DPs will answer questions submitted before the event and we’ll also take live questions from the audience. This is your chance to ask about anything – from the basics to the more complex aspects of working with a DP:

• Want to know how best to collaborate with a DP if you’re in a different department?
• Curious about the gear used on set?
• Wondering how to break into the camera department?
• Intrigued about why certain lenses are selected for certain shots?
• Or maybe you want tips on how to best communicate your vision for a shot to a DP?
