“What’s Your DP Talking about?” is back! After a successful trial of this kit workshop for non-technical producers and directors back in March, we’re really excited to bring a second iteration of this session helping producers, directors, and all filmmakers new to camera navigate the need to knows of cameras, lenses and lighting.

Have you ever nodded along while your Director of Photography talks about camera choices, lenses, and gear—without fully understanding how those decisions impact your production?

This workshop is perfect for anyone who works closely with DPs, but has never had the chance to learn camera fundamentals in a more than ad-hoc way. We’re helping technical and non-technical HODs collaborate and communicate better, by bridging that knowledge gap!

We will…

• Go back to basics, breaking down essential camera components vs Nice-to-Haves
• Understand more about different camera choices: When that Arri LF is worth it, and when it’s not
• Demystify lens choices and how they affect your final look
• Learn how and when specialist gear could and should be used (EG hiring a steadicam, or shooting on film)
• Gain insight into how your DP is thinking about achieving your final look
• Clarify what to prioritise in your budget!

This is workshop will be slightly less hands-on than our usual lunchtime sessions, but spaces remain limited  to give attendees the best chance to get up close with the kit. First come, first serve, so sign up fast!
